Product-specific document. This schedule applies only to Tune (com.ryantinklepaugh.tune). It supplements the separate Tune Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, each with its own immutable version and SHA-256 hash.
Product purpose
Tune is a guided room-acoustics and subwoofer-alignment aid for measuring a listening position, explaining low-frequency response, comparing changes, and verifying whether a placement, polarity, delay, or conservative equalization experiment improved the measured result.
Acoustic guidance, not certified instrumentation
Tune is an acoustic setup aid. It is not a certified sound-level meter, hearing test, medical device, building-code instrument, laboratory analyzer, or substitute for calibrated professional instrumentation. It does not claim absolute sound-pressure accuracy from an iPhone microphone or compliance with IEC, ISO, REW, or another measurement standard.
A result describes the selected route, equipment, placement, listening position, sweep, noise conditions, and calibration state at the time of measurement. Background noise, reflections, clipping, automatic gain behavior, microphone variation, device cases, route processing, movement, or an incorrect calibration file can produce incomplete or misleading results.
Audio-route and timing limits
Built-in, Bluetooth, AirPlay, and other routes that are not timing-qualified remain magnitude-only. Tune does not provide delay, distance, or polarity advice from those routes. Timing and polarity analysis requires a full-duplex wired or USB route that passes the app's route, marker, repeatability, and stability checks across repeated sweeps.
Passing a software check does not certify the connected interface, microphone, speaker, subwoofer, or room. Confirm the displayed route and repeat the verification measurement after making a change.
Audible sweeps and safe equipment use
Tune produces audible test sweeps. Set a conservative playback level, protect hearing, avoid disturbance, and use speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, interfaces, microphones, and cables within their instructions and limits. Stop if a sweep is uncomfortable, distorted, unstable, or appears likely to damage equipment.
Do not use Tune where an audible signal could create a hazard or interfere with communication, alarms, care, work, or another person. Tune does not monitor hearing safety or equipment temperature and cannot prevent damage caused by level, wiring, configuration, or equipment failure.
Recommendations are experiments to verify
Placement, polarity, delay, target-curve, and cut-only parametric-equalization suggestions are conservative starting points, not guarantees. The user must decide whether a proposed change is appropriate for the equipment and room, apply it using the equipment manufacturer's controls, listen at a safe level, and remeasure.
Free access and Tune Pro
The current Free tier supports one room, up to three saved measurements, the balanced target, and the guided room-response scan shown in the app. Tune Pro can add unlimited rooms and history, timing-qualified subwoofer alignment, alternate target curves, before-and-after comparison, conservative cut-only PEQ suggestions, calibration-file import, and CSV or JSON export.
Tune Pro may be offered as an annual auto-renewable subscription with the Apple-disclosed introductory offer for eligible users or as a one-time lifetime purchase. The Apple purchase sheet controls the current price, trial eligibility, product type, renewal terms, and included features.
Limited mode
A user who declines or withdraws remains able to review available local records; export or delete available product data; read legal and support information; and manage or restore an Apple purchase. New or edited rooms, scans, comparisons, calibration imports, private-iCloud product writes, recommendations, new purchases, and Pro measurement or alignment features can remain unavailable until the current product documents are affirmatively accepted.
Current product data boundary
The following categories and operational boundaries are specific to Tune and form part of this schedule.
- Transient microphone input and audio-route characteristics used only during a user-directed acoustic scan
- Derived frequency-response samples, confidence and repeatability checks, findings, comparisons, subwoofer-alignment results, and measurement lineage
- Room names, speaker and subwoofer labels, target-curve and unit choices, settings, and other user-entered organization details
- Imported microphone calibration frequencies and correction values, source filename, and validation state
- Private CloudKit record identifiers, custom-zone state, change tokens, generation epochs, tombstones, conflict and retry state, and synchronization timestamps
- User-requested CSV and JSON exports and the copies a user saves or shares to a selected destination
- Anonymous App Store purchase and RevenueCat transaction, offering, product, and entitlement metadata
- Privacy-minimal legal-choice evidence
- Support correspondence and attachments the user deliberately sends to Uncommon Weather
Microphone input and on-device analysis
Tune requests microphone access only to run a scan the user starts. It plays an audible sweep, reads microphone samples, checks the route and signal, and performs the acoustic analysis on the device. Raw microphone buffers remain in memory only during that analysis. Tune does not save them as an audio recording, upload them to Uncommon Weather, CloudKit, RevenueCat, or the legal-choice service, or use them for advertising.
The saved result contains derived frequency-response values, route capability, quality and repeatability checks, findings, comparisons, measurement lineage, and, only on a timing-qualified route, derived timing or polarity results. These derived records describe a room and audio system rather than preserving intelligible microphone audio.
Local records and private iCloud synchronization
Tune stores rooms, derived measurements, findings, imported calibration data, settings, synchronization state, generation epochs, and deletion tombstones in files protected on the device. The app remains useful offline and does not require a Tune account or a developer-operated measurement backend.
When the user's device and iCloud settings permit, Tune synchronizes derived product records through a custom zone in the user's private CloudKit database. Apple processes those records under the user's iCloud account and Apple's terms. Tune does not send a second copy to a developer-operated measurement server, and support cannot restore a user's private CloudKit records.
Calibration imports and user-directed exports
A calibration-file import reads the frequencies, correction values, filename, and validation information needed to apply the selected microphone correction. Tune does not upload the calibration file to Uncommon Weather. The user is responsible for selecting a file that is appropriate for the microphone and measurement setup.
Tune creates CSV or JSON output only after the user requests an export. The iOS share or file interface lets the user choose the destination. Copies saved, sent, or uploaded by the user remain with that destination or recipient until deleted there and are governed by its terms and retention controls.
Purchases and legal choices
Apple processes App Store purchases and payment credentials. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier and limited app, device, offering, product, transaction, purchase, and entitlement metadata needed to present Tune Pro, restore purchases, provide aggregate subscription analytics, and determine access. Tune does not set an email address or custom account identifier in RevenueCat and does not send raw microphone audio, room names, measurements, calibration files, or exports to RevenueCat.
The separate Uncommon Weather legal-choice service receives only signed, privacy-minimal evidence of an acceptance, decline, or withdrawal, including product and document identifiers, versions and hashes, the choice, adult age band and acceptor role, pseudonymous installation and request identifiers, app version and build, timestamps, locale, source and sequence, cryptographic proof, and receipt linkage. It does not receive Tune rooms, measurements, raw audio, calibration data, exports, iCloud identifiers, or purchase history.
Retention and deletion
Tune keeps local derived records until the user deletes them or removes the app, subject to Apple's storage behavior. Its delete-all flow requests removal of local product records and records in the app's private CloudKit zone. If the device is offline or Apple temporarily rejects part of the request, Tune retains privacy-preserving deletion state and retries so older synchronized data is not treated as current merely because another device reconnects.
A completed product deletion does not erase CSV or JSON copies the user already saved or shared, Apple or RevenueCat purchase records, provider security records, or privacy-minimal legal-choice evidence retained for integrity, security, legal claims, or compliance. The user must delete exported copies at each destination and manage or cancel an Apple subscription separately.
Legal choices and verification
A decline or withdrawal takes effect locally at once and remains limited without a recurring prompt. A user can review the current documents and affirmatively accept from Legal & Privacy settings. A current affirmative acceptance takes effect after it is durably saved on the device and unlocks main-app access while signed-receipt delivery retries in the background. A non-terminal network, Apple, or service outage does not lock the main app or create another prompt. Widgets, Live Activities, and other extension surfaces that require a verifiable cross-process receipt may wait until the server-signed receipt is received and verified. If the server explicitly rejects the exact saved acceptance as terminal, the client quarantines that failed record and returns to the appropriate decision or limited-state screen. A current choice is not repeatedly requested.
